This is an interview with Zhang Yong, who’s made a documentary exploring the subject of Sino-African relations following the story of Bobby, a Nigerian businessman who owns and operates a factory with his Chinese wife, as he navigates the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The film focuses on the challenges experienced by Bobby as an African businessman amidst tightening COVID-19 restrictions. The film aims to represent the people-to-people level of Sino-African exchanges. Zhang hops to create more work that would reinforce a more accurate mutual understanding connecting Africa and China.
