Overview:

This article provides a response from the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang addressing claims of anti-foreigner discrimination at the beginning of the pandemic. Spokesman Geng Shuang responded: "I haven't heard any news or response in this regard. I heard more admiration and praise from foreigners in China for the important achievements made by the Chinese government and people in fighting the epidemic in a short time." Geng Shuang further commented: "China has always attached great importance to the health and safety of foreign citizens in China and protected their legitimate rights and interests in accordance with the law. We say so and do so. At the same time, China opposes all forms of discrimination and prejudice. Some inspection, quarantine and prevention and control measures issued by Chinese local governments treat Chinese and foreign citizens equally, which is responsible not only to Chinese citizens, but also to foreign citizens, but also to the prevention and control of the world epidemic.”
