African, Chinese scientists pledge cooperation in advancing sustainability agenda
Outgoing Tanzanian Ambassador to China, Mbelwa Kairuki, praised the enduring friendship and cooperation between Tanzania and China under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during his six-year tenure. He strongly dismissed claims of China creating "debt traps" in Africa, asserting that China's contribution to the debt structure of African countries is minimal compared to other institutions. Kairuki highlighted the tangible benefits of BRI cooperation, citing infrastructure development and expanded trade, expressing optimism for further collaboration in new areas such as energy, science, and technology in the coming years.
