Author:

Anshan Li

Overview:

Dr. Li talks identifies cultural prejudice as the biggest hurdle to Sino-African communication and understanding of one another. He digs deep in Chinese and African cultural values and draws a link between the two, saying that both societies though look different, were built however on similar cultural values such as respecting the elderly, and tolerance of others. The professor's analysis and comparison between the true cultures presents a hypothesis that such so-feared differences are merely products of prejudice. He provides a hopeful vision that by studying the value-system similarities, both cultures should be equally respected for the values they preach, away from superficial differences and prejudices instilled.
