Kenya Releases First Localized Chinese Curriculum

Overview:

The Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, Kenya, hosted the signing ceremony for the publication of the Chinese textbook "Practical Chinese Textbook for East Africa" on September 26th. This is the first Chinese textbook compiled in Kenya tailored to East African Chinese language teaching. The textbook, divided into elementary, middle, and high levels, includes micro lesson videos for flexible learning, aligns with the 2021 "Language and Writing Standards," and aims to enhance Chinese language teaching in the African region. The initiative, celebrated at the first Confucius Institute in Africa established in 2005, is expected to deepen students' understanding of Chinese culture in the context of African life.
