This book studies the role of campaigns in Chinese immigration law, which underwent major reforms in 2012. The author examines why the revision of the Entry and Exit Administration Act was simultaneously followed by increased campaigning against the illegal entry, illegal stay and illegal employment of foreign nationals (San Fei. The book uncovers processes behind campaigns and immigration law in the context of Chinese administrative law. The author argues that legal reform and campaigns work hand in hand because campaigns prove to the general public that the government has succeeded in containing a problem.
