University students see window of opportunity in China-Kenya relations

The Turkana Tourism and Cultural Festival in Kenya, opened by President William Ruto, featured a lion dance and highlighted both Turkana and Chinese culture. At the Chinese pavilion, students from the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi performed the lion dance and showcased Chinese traditions, sparking interest among Turkana college students. Many expressed a desire to learn the Chinese language and culture, anticipating advantages in securing jobs at Chinese companies in Kenya. The Turkana University College hopes to establish a Confucius Institute, fostering cultural exchanges and strengthening the bond between China and Kenya in remote areas like Turkana.
